SCRIPTURE REFLECTION
Here we encounter the dark solemnity of Jesus’ final hours. The Son of God has died. With a final cry to the Father, Jesus has breathed His last breath. Incredibly, in this moment, the only person who appears to recognize the truth of Jesus’ identity is a Gentile, a Roman soldier.

PRAYER
God, we call today “Good Friday.” If I am honest, it is hard to understand why we would call this day “good.” What could be good about Jesus dying? What could be good about the Savior of the world breathing His final breath? Yet it is certainly good. It is good that Jesus has taken the penalty for my sin. It is good that He died so that I might have life in You. Help me to share this Good News with my friends, neighbors, and family.
