PREPARE US WITH A HUMBLE HEART.
READ
James 4:6
“But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, ‘God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’”
REFLECT
It is not that God merely removes His hand of favor from the proud; He directly opposes the proud. God’s ultimate goal is to magnify His own name. Therefore, the one who seeks his own glory stands against everything God is doing in this world. Humility is a prerequisite to being used by God.
PRAY
Father, I must decrease; You must increase. Guard me from the pride of selfish ambition, prayerlessness, and an attitude of self-sufficiency. I am completely dependent upon You. Demonstrate Your power through my weakness.
RESPOND
Whose name are you more concerned with—your own or God’s? Are you aware of your utter dependence upon Him for everything? Are you living your life your own way, or do you truly believe His way is better? Be humble today and allow Christ to shine through you.
