Mickey was born and raised in the small, country town of Hollister, Missouri and had the privilege of having a praying mother who took him to Sunday School as a child. Although he didn’t accept Jesus as his personal Savior until he was 25 years old, his mother taught him Biblical principles throughout his childhood.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Lisa Dixon, soon after they graduated from high school in 1967. Lisa and Mickey got saved through the testimony and persistence of one of his co-workers. Mickey was at the time quite resistant to anything Christian, so Mickey is beyond thankful that he didn’t give up on him.
He is a graduate of College of the Ozarks with a lifetime teaching degree in English Education. Following his salvation, he attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, and received a Graduate of Theology degree.
Mickey and Lisa have 2 grown sons, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. Since receiving Jesus as his Lord and Savior, he counts it a joy to have served God in almost all areas of the church. He considers it a great honor to be an elder at Southlake Baptist Church. And we are thankful for humble and generous leaders like Mickey!
