About Kevin Burris

Kevin grew up in a Christian home, accepted Jesus as his Savior as a young child, and was baptized several years later as a teenager.  Growing up, Kevin and his family lived throughout much of the Midwest.  He followed a passion for Legos and problem solving which eventually led him to a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.  Upon graduating, he worked for Archer-Daniels-Midland and held various engineering and project management positions for the agricultural processing company.
In late 2012, Kevin changed careers to join a small startup oil and gas service company which prompted a move to Texas.  After settling in the Roanoke area, Kevin started attending Southlake Baptist and was immediately welcomed into our family of believers.  While his career progressed to VP and director-level engineering, operations and business development roles, much of his free time was spent volunteering and serving within the church.

Since becoming a member at Southlake Baptist in 2014, Kevin’s heart to serve has manifested itself in several areas from humbly working the sound and video boards throughout the main service to sharing his love for Jesus by teaching kids and adult Bible studies.  He has served as an elder within the church since 2017 and as the church treasurer for multiple terms as well.

In mid-2019 the company Kevin was working for was bought out, and he decided to take some time off and commit to seeking the Lord’s will in his life.  Kevin felt called to invest his time and talents within the church and started working alongside staff in various ministries including youth group, teaching Quest in the kids’ ministry, leading a home group, and building a young adult Bible study.

As Southlake Baptist Church looks to move into the new facility, Kevin has been brought on staff to help provide additional support and assistance to key ministries while also bringing professional project management skills that are uniquely suited to aid the church through this transition.  Please join me in welcoming Kevin into this new role.
